The American River Parkway

 

The American River Parkway is an open space greenbelt which extends approximately 29 miles from Folsom Dam at the northeast to the American River’s confluence with the Sacramento River at the southwest.

 

For the 2014 Earth Stewardship Initiative Project developed for the 99th annual Ecological Society of America Conference, a demonstration project using the American River Parkway was presented. This project celebrated the American River Parkway running through downtown Sacramento and provided a lasting example of how ecology, urban planning, floodplain management, and conservation could work together to increase urban resilience and human well-being.
